The Seagull Maritime Spruce Dreadnought is an acoustic-electric guitar that features Seagull's compound-curve bracing system and LR Baggs Element electronics. The Maritime Spruce dreadnought also has a high gloss custom polished finish. This finish provides excellent protection yet is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the guitar and its ability to age <## HC mdash; ##> a thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging.Seagull Maritime series guitars are made with a mahogany back and sides. Generally speaking, mahogany produces a mellower sound than other tone woods. Maritime series Seagull guitars feature a unique lamination of mahogany on each side of a center layer of wild cherry. This results in a sound with slightly more highs than a typical mahogany guitar.The LR Baggs Element electronics system has a streamlined and efficient design that removes every unnecessary internal component, improving the coupling between the transducer and the guitar. This substantially improves the sensitivity of the transducer for a robust, lively and open sound with great dynamics and a delicate high end.The side-mounted preamp features a hidden click-lock battery compartment for easy battery changes; class A discrete FET input for warm, analog sound; and volume, bass, treble and mid controls.
