Five Guitar Caring Tips
A guitar is a very nice instrument to play. When played right, it can produce great music. But owning a guitar is one thing, taking care of it is another. Here are some great tips on taking care of your guitar.
1. Never put your guitar on the ground. The only time you do this is when you're going to lay it inside its case. This means that when you're not using it, you should place it on a stand or place it in a corner so that it would stand. You would not want someone to accidentally step on it when you put in on the ground now, wouldn't you? So always make sure that your guitar is standing when it's out of its case.
2. You should regularly change your guitar strings. The reason behind this is because if you have bad or worn out strings, these could snap and hit you. Getting hit with a guitar string is very painful. The right time for you to change your strings is when these begin to lose their color or become too strained. It is advisable that you should change your guitar string every 1-2 months. The kind of string you would need to buy would be determined by the kind of guitar you own. This means your strings should either be nylon or steel strings.
3. You should always keep your guitar in good condition. You should wipe your guitar of dust every now and then. But you have to be sure that you don't put so much force because there might be some hard particles that could cause scratches on your guitar. You could loosen up the strings a bit so that you can clean the dust in between them. Also, you should polish your guitar so that it wouldn't look so dull. No one would like to see someone play on a guitar that looks really out of shape.
4. Make sure you have everything ready for your guitar's transport. This means you should have the right kind of case or bag. Usually, when you travel, your guitar has to be checked in, meaning it won't be under your close supervision. The best way for you to ensure that your guitar won't be damaged in the baggage compartment is to put it in a hard guitar case. This keeps it from being crushed if some other bags or whatever comes loose happens to fall on your guitar. Also, you should have a padded guitar bag when you're going to bring your bag along with you to certain places. You can't just grab it by the neck and manhandle it all the way.
5. Always know who you lend your guitar to. This is because there are times when the people you lend it to might not take care of it the way you want them to. You should know the habits of the person you lend it to so that you could ensure your guitar's safety.
These are just some tips on how you can keep your guitar safe and in top condition. You should always be vigilant when it comes to your guitar so that you can maintain its musical capabilities.
