Four Ways To Learn The Guitar
Many of us believe that we can become the next rock star or the next guitar god. It's just too bad that many also do not pursue actually playing the guitar.
There are all sorts of reasons that people don't pick up a guitar to try it out. Some say that they just aren't talented enough. But with a lot of practice and maybe a few lessons, you can actually play the guitar better than you think you can. The question is how you are going to go about it. Here are some ways that you can learn to play the guitar.
• Self study – Now, it isn't so hard to pick up an acoustic or electric guitar and strum a few tunes out of it. Of course, you may need to purchase some books or maybe even surf the internet to get a few tips on how you are supposed to hit the right chords and notes. The point is that you can learn to play the guitar all by yourself.
There are many self-taught musicians out there. The drawback, of course, is that you might miss out on some essential things like learning how to read music notes. Still, it's not so bad to play by ear and you can experiment a whole lot more if you don't restrict yourself to the rules of rocking the hammer.
• Get a teacher – Another option is to actually hire the services of a professional. Don't know anybody who will teach you for a few bucks? Then it's about time you went out into the world and looked for someone who does.
You can find many guitar teachers in music schools and even in record stores. If you really want to know everything about the guitar from how to play it and which one will suit you the best, your chances are great if you go to a guitar shop that offers lessons simultaneously. It's probably also best to have someone's opinion and guidance when you are trying to experiment with different notes and tunes.
• School – Remember music class in school? If you have no clue about notes and music, you probably were one of the kids who didn't really want to figure out the technical side to music. Of course, you are not at a complete loss because you can still take music classes by going back to school.
You can take a course in music at a university or you can take a course at a school that specializes only in music. These schools aren't that difficult to find and a search on the Internet should point you in the right direction.
• Play with a friend – Can't trust yourself or teachers when it comes to learning something new? Then get together with people who share your interest in playing the guitar.
Playing with a friend can be very healthy for you. Plus you just might find that you will be playing with your friend or friends in the long run, like when you start a band as the lead guitarist in the group.
