Four Easy Steps To Learning How To Play The Guitar
Playing the guitar is something that everyone can do. Of course, not everyone can become a skillful guitar player, let alone a guitar god; but at the very least, one can play a few songs just by following a few steps in learning how to play the guitar.
These are not the end-all of all guitar tutorials but these are certainly steps that one can take on his or her own. This means, you don't always have to go to a teacher to learn something that you are interested in; and when it comes to the guitar, you will only need the advice of a teacher or a professional once you are getting into the more advanced lessons. So if you are looking to learning a few songs to belt out with friends on boring days, then here are some easy steps to help you out.
• Get a guitar – The first thing you need is most obvious, you will need to get a guitar. Of course, you can't just get any guitar. You need to get a guitar that will be easy for you to use but still be able to achieve rich sounds and notes when you strum on it.
Most people will tell you that you should start with an acoustic guitar and they are right. But if you really want to start with an electric guitar, there's no harm in doing that either. Just make sure that the guitar that you get is of great quality.
• Be basic – In other words, keep your self-taught lessons simple. Even if you hear the most complicated lead solo in one of your favorite songs, know that you will not be able to do the exact same thing overnight. By learning and playing the most basic of chords, you will have gone one step further to mastering that lead that you want to play. Remember to keep it basic, to practice hard and take it one day at a time.
• Maintain your rhythm – Playing a guitar means playing a song. And playing a song means that you should maintain a certain rhythm so that it comes out right. You can't strum as fast or as slow as you want; that will not help you learn at all.
Pick out an easy song to play. Learn it and then practice playing it with exactly the same rhythm as you heard it. You may find this difficult but it's important that you control the speed of your strumming as well.
• Learn your songs – Your songs means that you should practice playing songs that you like; ones that you enjoy. You can't learn the guitar if you are playing a song that you don't enjoy. You also can't learn how to play the guitar if you are learning a song that is full of complicated chords and techniques. Think of some simple songs that you like and see how much of those songs you can play with the skills that you have acquired.
