'59 Les Paul guitars will be made!The 50th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul Sunbust Reissue Electric Guitar faithfully reproduces all of the '59 specs of the original with a distinctive Burnt Wheat Burst nitrocellulose finish. The Gibson Custom shop has even captured the guitar's wireless ABR-1 bridge, bumblebee capacitors, CTS pots, and the correct materials and shape of the bridge posts and thumbwheels, truss rod cover, strap button, and pickguard. The only major change to the Les Paul "Sunburst" in 1959 was the addition of wider, fatter, jumbo frets which facilitated more dramatic bends. The real force of this change was not felt until the late 1960s when rock and blues players like Eric Clapton, Mike Bloomfield, and Peter Green discovered the fat, warm voice of the '59 Les Paul, which they dubbed "Sunburst." This moment in history marked the beginning of the idealization of the 1959 Les Paul Sunburst as the quintessential electric guitar in the minds of guitarists and collectors everywhere.Using a combination of traditional hand craftsmanship and modern technology, the Gibson Custom Shop luthiers painstakingly reproduce the key elements that define stunning, vintage looks, flawless playability, and incredible tone.
